INFP
The everyday you
As an INFP, you check everything against a private sense of what is true and what matters, and you rarely announce the result. You see possibilities everywhere, in people most of all. You keep a store of remembered details and small loyalties. And your weakest habit, the one that flusters you fastest, is making things work, getting them organized and done.

At your best you are the most sincere person in the room: loyal to a few people and a few convictions, curious, adaptable, and quick to see what someone could become. The cost is that decisions wait, structure slips, and the practical logistics of a week go untended until a value is crossed, at which point you are suddenly and surprisingly firm.

making it work Te · comparing with what's been Si · seeing what could be Ne · staying true Fi
You admire the person who decides by lunchtime and has it done by Friday: practical, matter-of-fact, in charge of the plan and unembarrassed about it. Getting things to work in the world is your weakest habit turned into her strength, so it fascinates you and it stings a little. Reaching for it in small doses is how you grow.

tending the room Fe · sensing where it's going Ni · noticing what's here Se · making it make sense Ti
Under stress your mildness goes. You become critical and exact, you push your view as the only view, you organize people who did not ask, and you feel incompetent while doing it. That is your Unconscious, your four habits turned the other way. It is also why a person who runs a room by managing everyone’s feelings can make your skin crawl.

When you are on duty you play the quiet fixer: unbothered, logical, handling the practical thing in front of you and saying nothing about how you feel. It is a good role for an emergency. Kept up for weeks it costs you, because it is built from the habits you own least, and it leaves your convictions with nowhere to go.

EastYour family
An INFP’s four selves are INFP, ESTJ, ENFJ, and ISTP. Those four types share one set of selves, which makes them a family, and every one of the sixteen types belongs to one of four families. That is why your other three are the same as every other INFP’s, and why they can be compared with anyone’s. INFP is in the East family.
The types most often mistaken for yours
| Your type, or its neighbor | The question that separates them |
|---|---|
| INFP or INFJ | Ni-Fe vs Fi-Ne — zero shared functions. Do you instinctively read and manage others' emotional field, or survey your own feelings and values? INFJ is less in touch with her own feelings; INFP is much more attuned to them. INFJ moves toward one bold conclusion; INFP toward many possibilities and can look indecisive. |
| INFP or ISFP | Both Fi-lead; auxiliary Ne vs Se. Do you express your values through imagined possibility, language and story, or through hands-on action in the vivid present? Same inner judge; different outer perception. |
| INFP or ISFJ | Both ride the Si–Ne axis. Are you anchored in what should be done and social standards, or in intention and authenticity? Under stress, the ISFJ turns impulsive; the INFP turns harsh. |
A detail worth knowing: for introverts, the last letter describes the second function, not the first. Your lead function works on the inside; what the world sees is the second. That is why the types below can look alike from the outside and feel completely different from within.
